Maybole make the lengthy journey north to the KG Stadium to face the Blantyre Vics tomorrow.
The two clubs haven’t met on many occasions during their histories, due to the distance between the towns. Although, due to recent league configurations they have went head-to-head on a few occasions in the last couple of seasons.
During the 2015/16 season, Murdie MacKinnon’s Vics side ran out 2 – 1 winners in both meetings, as Maybole faced the drop later that season. Earlier in the campaign, when both sides met at the Ladywell Stadium, John Gibson’s ten men Vics side were rampant, taking five goals off of The Bole, and winning 5 – 2. After the homeside taking the lead, Nadeem Zeb scored a brace in an intense game which had an incredible 12 cards distributed during the ninety minutes. If this was anything to go by, referee Scott Love will have his hands full.
Both sides come into this fixture on a bad run of form, Maybole are desperate to get three points on the board after last weeks defeat to top of the table Gartcairn, they sit eight points from safety. Victory today would be their first since before Christmas. Though after managing to pick up points against Wishaw and Shettleston, they will be hopeful they can pull off a shock tomorrow in Blantyre.
The Vics, despite almost being assured that they will be playing in League 1 next season, they will be bitterly disappointed that their race for promotion is all but over after last week’s defeat in Bellshill.
Both sides will be desperate to grab the win today. Maybole need to start cutting the gap to their relegation rivals, while the Vics are desperate to get a victory for the fans.
