Matchday Preview - Gartcairn

One of the most crucial fixture for Blantyre this season as they travel to Airdrie to face title-chasers Gartcairn. Victory tomorrow for Blantyre means they cut the gap to Ardrossan to eight points with four games in hand over their promotion rivals. Victory for the Cairn will keep Shotts Bon Accord at bay as they head into their final two fixtures of the season.

Last time when the sides met in Blantyre back in August, Gartcairn proved their might winning 2 - 0 - but it could have been a lot more on the night as the Airdrie side dominated from start to finish.

Taking three points from Gartcairn will certainly be a tall order for The Vics having only been beaten once at MTC Park this season, by Junior Cup semi-finalists Lochee United in October. On Wednesday night they bossed Bellshill Athletic as they ran out 3-0 winners. The league leaders also surpassed their 100 league goal milestone during the week, making them the first junior team to do so this season.

Blantyre Victoria almost seen their promotion hopes slip away. After taking the lead in the first half, and dominating for large parts of the game a 69th minute header brought Royal Albert level. Con Boyle stepped up late on with a wonder strike to win Blantyre a crucial three points in their chase for the Championship.

This will certainly be an entertaining fixture with so much at stake for both sides, and lots of goals are certainly on the cards.

McBookie Odds:

Gartcairn - 4/7

Draw - 21/5

Blantyre - 12/5
