Match Preview - Cumbernauld United

Guys Meadow is a place which has miserable connotations for Blantyre Vics, as they return to Cumbernauld for the start of their first season back in the Championship.

The last meeting of the sides was in the 2018 Central League Cup semi-final. Blantyre scored in the opening minute of the match through Sam MacKenzie. Although the homeside bounced back and thrashed the Vics 6 - 1.

The previous league meeting between the sides fell at the end of the 2016/17 campaign. The Vics' relegation from the second tier had already been confirmed weeks prior but Cumbernauld rubbed salt in the wounds as they beat John Gibson's side 3 - 1.

In the Sectional League Cup both sides won two games out of three. United were outdone by Kilsyth Rangers who took full points from their group. While the Vics were knocked out on goal difference as they were defeated by East Kilbride Thistle at the final hurdle.

Cumbernauld will certainly be the favourites for this match-up, but the Vics will have their eyes on an upset. Hoping to get revenge for previous heart-break they have faced at Guys Meadow in recent years.

McBookie Odds:

Cumbernauld - 4/9

Draw - 5/1

Blantyre - 11/4
